As part of our commitment to increase our assortment of certified nontoxic furniture, Pottery Barn Kids has made big strides in certifying 100% of its company-produced bedroom and nursery furniture to GREENGUARD Gold Standards. According to the EPA, we spend 90% of our time indoors. Babies and children are among the groups “most susceptible to the effects of indoor air pollution,” making clean air especially important for nurseries and children’s bedrooms.

Furniture that’s GREENGUARD Gold Certified is screened for more than 10,000 chemicals and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) that are commonly known to pollute indoor air. As of 2020, Pottery Barn Kids reached a goal of 100% company-produced bedroom and nursery furniture, while Pottery Barn Teen has also expanded its GREENGUARD Gold collections. In addition to being certified, our collections are made to last—from beds and cribs crafted from solid kiln-dried wood to organic bedding woven from 100% sustainably sourced cotton.

Our GREENGUARD Certified products meet and exceed national and state laws for restricted substances to keep toxins out of customers’ homes and out of the air. Gold Certification “offers stricter certification criteria” and “considers safety factors to account for sensitive individuals (such as children and the elderly).” Made of materials with low chemical emissions, GREENGUARD Certified furniture ensures that the air you breathe is cleaner, for your family and for the workers who made your products.
